It's rare (no pun intended) that a modern, AAA video game will draw favorable comparisons to Banjo-Kazooie, but somehow the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is pulling that off after a gameplay preview this morning had fans fondly remembering the oft-forgotten Banjo sequel, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

This morning's gameplay presentation of Tears of the Kingdom highlighted a new mechanic added to the Zelda franchise. Link will be able to combine various items in the environment like fallen logs or random gears in order to craft vehicles like a raft or even a hoverboard.

Many gamers remembered that "building vehicles from environmental materials" was the central gameplay mechanic of Nuts and Bolts and were ready to celebrate the Uncommon Banjo W on social media.

Tears of the Kingdom still has about a month and a half until it releases on May 12th, giving ancient gamers plenty of time to fondly recall Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and wonder if Nintendo's new Zelda could possibly top it.

I'm not knocking it for not being fun, because yes, it looks fun. But Nintendo, can we please just confirm Zelda as playable in a zelda game for an actual change of pace? I don't care if it's dlc or new game plus content, I just wanna play as Zelda in a mainline Zelda game past 2009.

the kind of game i want to see is Link being off on a journey somewhere, then evil shit starts happening in Hyrule and Zelda has to handle it, and Link doesn't show up until the end to render timely assistance (similar to what Zelda does at the end of Ocarina of Time).
