Sad Keanu Was Never Here

The immortality of Keanu Reeves is now in the history books (technically).

Recently, Twitter user @jigsawdeaad realized there was something off in his textbook's print of the legendary "Lunch Atop A Skyscraper" photograph. Sad Keanu was sitting in the corner.

The picture is from a Ukranian History textbook published by Orion publishing house in 2018. It was in circulation for two years before anyone noticed the error. They told the Kyiv Post that the meme's inclusion was an error missed in copyediting.

The book's author, Ihor Schupak, tells a different story. Schupak wrote on Facebook that the meme's inclusion, while initially an accident, was intentionally left in. “When the designer who worked with me on the book’s illustrations showed me that photo with Keanu Reeves, I didn’t notice that small detail at first,” he wrote. “But when I understood the meme, I decided to keep it.”

While it appears that Sad Keanu in "Lunch Atop A Skyscraper" is a silly error, one must also consider the possibility that, due to the fact Keanu is allegedly hundreds of years old, he actually was present in the photograph and we are finally seeing the actual proof. Just tossing that out there.

Not accidentally, deliberately, as Easter egg for attentive readers, told author of the book.

Reminds me of when a Saudi textbook accidentally included a doctored image of Yoda sitting next to a king at the conference; the manufacturer was penalized as a result.
