Twitter has seemingly broken in a new and completely unexpected way, as minutes ago, the app's iconic Blue Bird logo was replaced on the homepage with Doge (the iconic Shiba Inu).

Also, the site has stopped telling users if the tweets they are seeing are retweets, purportedly making the "Following" tab a confusing mess all while being presided over by a decade-old meme — becoming the latest example of a bizarre change on Elon Musk's Twitter.

At the time of writing, there has been no official word on what is going on, leaving its users to hopelessly speculate on what's happening to Twitter this time.

Some suggested it may be an April Fools' joke that's two days late because Twitter is reportedly running on a skeleton crew. Others surmised it could be Elon pulling "Le Epic Pranksauce" on the site for no reason. It's also possible the site has been hacked by Dogecoin promoters, though this is merely speculation (but Dogecoin did spike in value after the change, fancy that!). At the moment, nobody knows for sure.

For some users, more aggravating than an unseasonable prank is the fact that Twitter suddenly stopped alerting users if tweets they're seeing are retweets. This means that tweets from other people users don't follow appear without the statement saying "X user retweeted …," making the "Following" tab, the last bastion for Twitter users who want the simple pleasure of reading tweets from people they choose to follow, a confusing mess.

Naturally, the "retweets" change, whether intentional or a Doge-related glitch, hasn't been explained or announced officially by Twitter, leaving many perplexed as to why they were suddenly seeing tweets from people they don't follow, and it was up to users to piece together why it was happening.

Whatever the case may be (and again, no one understands what is happening at Twitter right now), numerous people agree that it's "embarrassing" for the platform.

And thus Twitter has achieved another milestone in its metamorphosis into a static HTML site whose only feature is one of the wojak memes Elon Musk has made.

Wouldn't this also count as copyright infringement?

It's to bury news stories about the 250+ billion dollar dogecoin lawsuit against Elon in search results.
