Twitter has two words for the presidential run of Michael Bloomberg: OK Bloomer.

Following the release of a report in the New York Times, which said that Bloomberg, the billionaire former New York City mayor, was on the cusp of launching a presidential campaign, a slurry of memes and posts featuring the phrase "OK Bloomer" began trending online.

According to the Times, Bloomberg staffers have been collecting signatures throughout Alabama, hoping to gather enough so that he could qualify for the primary in the state. Additionally, Bloomberg and his advisers have "called a number of prominent Democrats on Thursday to tell them he was seriously considering the race, including former Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the retired majority leader who remains a dominant power broker in the early caucus state."

Luckily for his critics, it's a short walk from "Bloomberg" to meme du jour "OK Boomer," a widely-used dismissal of criticisms of millennials and generation z aimed at people of the baby boomer generation.

Throughout the day, "#OKBloomer" trended with posts criticizing Bloomberg and expressing dismay for his entry to the race.
