'The Day Before' Devs, Apparently Not Content With Fading Away Quietly, Blame 'Bloggers' For Game's Poor Reception

The Day Before, perhaps 2023's most infamous game in a year filled with infamous games, has finally left the internet for good, as developers Fntastic pulled the plug on the game's servers earlier this week. That said, they still have one last middle finger to give to the world that rejected their game as a buggy, overhyped and overpriced mess.

In a now-deleted statement posted to Twitter yesterday, Fntastic blamed "bloggers" for the intense negative reception of its game.

"Certain bloggers made huge money by creating false content with huge titles from the very beginning," the developers wrote. As the game attracted negative attention, Fntastic claimed it sparked a "gold rush" in which "bloggers" jumped to bash the game.

This, apparently, surprised them because Dr. Disrespect played the game in an "unbiased" way, and despite the game's flaws, he claimed to like it. To Fntastic, this proves that the negative response to the game was the result of content creators looking to make a quick buck by flaming it.

The devs also said that the fact the game was selling for hundreds of dollars on the black market was proof people secretly liked it.

Not surprisingly, many on social media were not convinced by Fntastic's defiant statement. Controversies about The Day Before included: the developers promising a massive zombie MMO for years, only for The Day Before to come out as a buggy, small extraction shooter; seeming to plagiarize other video game trailers; facing allegations of unpaid labor; consistent allegations of being a scam.

All of these Fntastic attempted to address in its latest statement, but the pile-on was rapid and widespread, likely leading to its ultimate deletion.

Fntastic told readers to "stay tuned" for more to come from them in its deleted statement, though at this point, it's likely some took that as more of a threat than a tease.
