YouTuber Steve Cash, known for his "Talking Kitty Cat" video series, has died by suicide, according to a Facebook post from his wife. He was 40 years old.

Nampa Police Department in Idaho found Cash dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, E! reports, on Thursday morning with no signs of foul play.

"This is so hard. I’m not even sure what to say, or for that matter, what to do," Celia DeCosta Cash wrote on Facebook. "I just lost my best friend, my sidekick, my lover, my mentor, my absolute everything, this morning. I’m so sad to say, my husband, Steve Cash took his own life this morning."

Fans expressed their grief online, sharing messages of support for fellow fans and Cash's friends and family.

Joining YouTube in November 2017, Cash amassed a following more than 2 million subscribers on the platform. Talking Kitty Cat, his popular comedy series, features Steve dealing with the hijinks of talking animals.

Talking Kitty Cat reached the height of its popularity in 2015, reaching more than 17 million views. The series regularly received more than 3 million views per episode. Cash published what would be his final installment in December 2019.

Oh shit that is not the news I was expecting to hear from that channel. I thought the worst I'd hear would be Sylvester or one of the other pets having died due to old age or an accident (I recall one of their cats sadly was killed by running in front of a moving vehicle), not that the guy behind the channel would shoot himself.

Still though yeah that really sucks to hear, I really liked that channel back in the older days of YouTube.
