Social Media Users Blame Quavo And Rap Culture For Takeoff's Death
Following the tragic death of Takeoff late on Halloween night in Houston, some social media users began trying to figure out what caused the shooting and what to make of it as word spread online.
After reports started to come out that the cause of the shooting was a dice game, a text exchange from an Austin number detailing the lead-up to the shooting started to get passed around social media, with fellow Migos rap member Quavo being named as the alleged instigator in the altercation due to him losing a large sum of money in the game.
Tragically, the texts continued on to say that Takeoff was originally shot by a member of his group, leading to some blaming Quavo for purportedly "getting heated" and causing the incident — though exact details are still unknown.
Other social media users were quick to use the moment to point at other rappers who had been killed in the past few years, mourning their loss while also saying that the culture needs to change.
This call to action for change in the culture is being spear-headed by fellow rapper Desiigner, who broke down in tears crying at the news before announcing he was quitting from rap. Others online began posting bits of Chris Rock stand-up and scenes from The Boondocks over how a trivial matter such as losing money in a dice game was not worth losing Takeoff, and not a good look for the culture.
This is exactly what Chris rock talked about! This is why I hate niggas man! RIP Takeoff! #TakeOff #RIP #RIPTakeoff #Quavo #migos pic.twitter.com/CadCrKuJXW
