Ron DeSantis' Team Has Apparently Had Enough Of The 'Boots' Meme, Gets Into Argument With Conservative Influencer
Ron DeSantis is in a rough spot as a political candidate, as evidenced by the fact he is down roughly 44 points against Donald Trump in the race for the 2024 Republican nomination for President and that much of the media attention he receives as of late concerns not his chances or policies but rather a rumor that he is wearing boots with high heels in order to make himself appear taller.
It would seem the DeSantis campaign has had enough of the latter, as a member of his team has gone after a conservative influencer for making a mild joke at DeSantis' expense.
On Wednesday, Ashley St. Clair posted a video in which she said "POV: you're Ron DeSantis getting ready to go out." She then puts on a pair of stiletto black boots.
While one would hardly argue this is the type of right-wing comedy that would make lefties nervous, it evidently struck a nerve with Christina Pushaw (DeSantis' Rapid Response Director), who sniped back, "POV you have nothing substantive to criticize DeSantis on as another plane load of Americans arrives home from Israel."
This was referencing an order DeSantis put out as Governor of Florida to charter flights for Americans back to the states from Israel amidst the Israel-Hamas Conflict.
Unfortunately for Pushaw, this didn't steer the conversation towards DeSantis' positive qualities and instead led to a discussion about the DeSantis team "attacking memes," which is currently a hot topic as a conservative memer was just sentenced to prison for pushing misinformation in the 2016 election.
As the reaction spread, even several DeSantis supporters weren't enthused by his team going on the offense against boot memers.
St. Clair responded to the controversy by posting a sarcastic apology video, which ended with her putting on a "more accurate" pair of boots to mock DeSantis.
