#RIPTwitter Trends As Twitter Experiments With "Fleets" Feature
Seemingly every time Twitter experiments with new features, it seems to cause a minor apocalypse on the website. Its latest foray into new features is "Fleets," an addition that will allow users to post tweets that will disappear in 24 hours, similar to Instagram or Snapchat stories.
According to Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter's product lead, wrote in a series of tweets, "People often tell us that they don’t feel comfortable Tweeting because Tweets can be seen and replied to by anybody, feel permanent and performative… We’ve been listening to this feedback and working to create new capabilities that address some of the anxieties that hold people back from talking on Twitter."
As of now, the feature is only available in Brazil. Nevertheless, Twitter users were, shall we say, less than enthused with the idea, causing #RIPTwitter to trend.

Yet again, the introduction of a new feature that isn't an edit button prompted Twitter users to call for a freakin' edit button.
Everyone: can we get an edit button? Twitter: No but y’all can have stories #RIPTwitter pic.twitter.com/UJWnJLHqC4

The last time #RIPTwitter trended, Twitter had recently implemented a feature which replaced its chronological timeline to a more algorithmic-based timeline, which i continues to frustrate users who want to see recent posts instead of posts from two days ago.
