Pictures of Thor from "God of War" and "God of War Ragnarok."

Artwork of several characters for the upcoming God of War sequel, titled God of War Ragnarok, were released online on September 10th, 2021. Out of all the characters shown, Thor was the one with the most commotion, as his depiction is that of a large ginger with a protruding belly — something that hasn't been known as the common representation of Thor for decades.

With many blaming the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Comics as a whole, this representation of Thor was defended online by many who claim original Norse mythology describes the character that Santa Monica studios have rendered. Still, many negative reactions were first shared when the design was shown, leading to a mixture of praise and outrage.

These hot takes on Fat Thor and comparisons to the MCU version did not stand untested for long, as many people began to support the decision of Santa Monica studios and show old Norse lore as well as current-day strongman competitors to show why this Thor is the most correct one ever seen.

While there was a battle going on between those who defended or attacked the new design, there was still a dedicated part of the internet that did the usual thing it always does, thirsting.

I don't get it. He looks fine? The exact same as the left photo but shirtless. It kind of bothers me that his chest is so exposed while his arms are so heavily armored. At most, I think his attire needs more balance but his body is fine.

Big LOL at the moron who was like "this doesn't look like a warrior" and then his image of a warrior is some super-stylised fantasy-themed low-fat body builder. The strongest men in the world don't look like this, they looks like massive fat guys. Look at someone like Lasha Talakhadze who recently broke the world record in Olympic weightlifting while having a belly that hangs over his belt, or even someone like Hafthor Bjornson whose competition physique is far closer to this Thor rendering than the underwear model shown in the Tweet. Being shredded (as in low fat and lots of muscle definition) is generally a hinderance if your goal is to just be strong instead of trying to look cool.

He's rocking that historically accurate Bezerker bod.

This is the depiction I was always shown as a kid growing up in Denmark, and how I've always viewed Thor. I've truly always hated how people think of Thor as some pretty boy with long locks of golden hair when the exact opposite is true.

if anything, balder looking like a skinny crackhead hillbilly is what made me salty.

Honestly, I'm fine with the idea of strongfat thor, I just feel like his belly pokes out a little too far.

He looks like a Dwarf

Aesthetically it's less about his gut, more about his fat little flabby titties for me. Have a big keg belly, fine, but I like my dudes with big rippling barrel-like pectorals.

The irony is that the World's Strongest Man looks closer to this than he does to a body builder. It's about muscle mass, not about being toned
