Pumpkin Spice Memes Are Upon Us As Starbucks Ushers In A New Vibe And The Internet Reacts
In a sure sign of autumn’s approach, Starbucks has begun offering the fabled Pumpkin Spice Latte once again. The response online has so far been widely varied, with essentially every possible cultural and political position from basic to based and back again represented in the trending discourse.
Some people are simply happy to see the lattes return. In recent years, the signature fall drink has become widely associated with white femininity in the United States, and posters recognized its return today as a harbinger of White Girl Autumn.

That being said, others were less enthusiastic. MAGA Congresswoman Lauren Boebert used the pumpkin spice latte as an example of inflation’s increase, and tied it to liberals — another group closely associated with lattes, as in “latte-sipping liberals,” according to some.

As Starbucks stores continue to unionize, many of the liberals Boebert attempted to criticize posted that they, in fact, were not going to drink pumpkin spice out of solidarity.

tomorrow, the pumpkin spice latte returns to starbucks. how many major news outlets “covering” it will mention that just last week the nlrb found that starbucks “illegally withheld wages and benefits from thousands of unionized baristas?” https://t.co/AVtgWFJAdO

The Starbucks unionization effort has arguably been one of the most visible post-pandemic organized labor campaigns. The company’s CEO, Howard Schultz, is sternly opposed to the union. Last week, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), a federal agency, ordered Schultz to record an apology video to workers because of measures he took to withhold pay and benefits from those who joined the union.
Starbucks is trying to halt union elections in all their stores and go after the NLRB. Unfortunately for Howard Schultz, workers have a legal right to organize, and corporate executives – no matter how powerful they claim to be – do not get a veto. pic.twitter.com/t5cMXBgunP

Another group on the other end of the political spectrum has apparently found a very different reason to be angry at Starbucks this fall. The coffee company will go fully cashless starting October 1st, leading many of those who dislike non-physical money to boycott the chain.
According to some, the reasoning goes that if money becomes a fully virtual experience, then the government or whoever else can simply delete funds in your account. Some even theorize that this is the first step in the establishment of a one-world government by the Illuminati.

Whatever it may mean to you, pumpkin spice season is most definitely upon us. The leaves are starting to fall in certain regions, the lines are starting to form outside of Starbucks locations and a new vibe dawns over the landscape as summer nears its end next month.
