(FromSoftware)

It's been 3,000* years (or rather, 2 years), but there is finally some actual news on Elden Ring, FromSoftware's near-mythical upcoming project in collaboration with Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin.

Leaked footage of a gameplay trailer has begun circulating online, VGC confirms, suggesting that a reveal is coming soon. Though the leaked footage is choppy and appears to have been recorded with a camera that is also a potato, it's been enough to send FromSoftware fans into a frenzy, as the company has gone frustratingly silent since announcing Elden Ring at E3 2019.

While KnowYourMeme has been unable to find a copy of the leaked video, clips are being shared on social media.

VGC also reports that the game has been delayed due to the challenges of working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, so gamers should not expect a 2021 release for the game.

While the leaks are far less concrete an update than any FromSoftware fan would like, they do mark the first actual news on the title since that first announcement two years ago. Naturally, folks on Twitter had a blast lampooning the poor quality of the leaks with memes.

It's possible, of course, that the leaks could be fake, but if not, a glorious day for Dark Souls fans may be soon upon us.
