To Fight Coronavirus, Polish Government Launches Minecraft Server
The Polish government has found the best tool for social distancing: Minecraft.
As part of a plan to keep children entertained and educated during quarantine, the Polish government launched the Graantanna initiative, providing students with several educational games, activities, webinars and a Minecraft server.
Each player will receive a government-sanctioned plot of land and "necessary building materials." The server will also host a build contest to decide who can craft the most impressive "known building."
The contest, which began yesterday, will run through March 27th and is open to all elementary, high school and college students.
PC Gamer writes, "The creative server is open to elementary, high school and college students, with each player entitled to a 60×60 plot. Awards will be doled out to the most impressive builds, with players encouraged to recreate 'known buildings.'"
Minecraft continues to be one of the world's most popular games. As of September last year, the game clocks in more than 112 million players a month. Who says video games can't save lives?
