Pokémon Invents The Bidoof-roll For Bidoof Day
Bidoof, a little beaver-like Pokémon introduced in Generation IV, has long been a small meme in the Pokémon community. Though a generally weak Normal-type, early-game Pokémon, it's proven invaluable for any Sinnoh player's team, as it and its evolution, Bibarel, can learn nearly all of the 8 HM moves of the game (HM moves are difficult-to-forget but necessary to traverse the environment in early Pokémon games). This has given rise to jokes imagining that Bidoof is actually one of the most powerful Pokémon, but every trainer knows Bidoof is something of a punching bag (albeit a lovable one).
This makes the Pokémon YouTube channel's official announcement of "Bidoof Day" all the more remarkable. Take a look for yourself:
Yes, for one of the oldest Pokémon memes, Pokémon busted out one of the oldest human memes: the Rickroll.
Granted, the song is doing a lot of work to make the lyrics of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" to fit Bidoof ("Always been a friend: Bidoof / On it, you depend: Bidoof"), but the fact that Pokémon rickrolled its fanbase was enough to drop fans' jaws.
They really went full on with this motif. It was so well done. It even ends at the same point with Bidoof at the wall and cuts to the same points at the right time.We got RickRoll'd, but we got expertly rickrolled#BidoofDay pic.twitter.com/eVG5zWCGen

Bidoof day essentially boiled down to Pokémon GO spawning an obscene amount of Bidoof and various Pokémon accounts running Bidoof-themed content and dropping Bidoof-themed merch, but for fans, Bidoof day will always be remembered for the Bidoof-roll.
