Piers Morgan Quits 'Good Morning Britain' After Co-hosts Push Back On His View Of Meghan Markle
Conservative British commentator Piers Morgan quite literally stormed off his television show Good Morning Britain yesterday after co-host Alex Beresford challenged his reasons for disliking Meghan Markle.
The program has been abuzz with talk about Markle and Prince Harry's bombshell interview with Oprah last Sunday. The day following the interview, Morgan appeared on Good Morning Britain and challenged Markle's statement that she felt depressed to the point of being suicidal while she was a part of the Royal Family.
"I don’t believe a word she says," Morgan said. "I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report."
When he asked, "Do you feel genuine sympathy for Meghan Markle?", co-host Susanna Reid responded, "Anyone who says they were left feeling suicidal, you have to feel sympathy for them."

Morgan's comments caused a stir in Britain, with mental health charity Mind expressing they were "disappointed" in Morgan.

On Tuesday's show, Good Morning Britain co-host Alex Beresford began to lay into Morgan. "I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle, you’ve made it so clear a number of times on this program. She’s entitled to cut you off. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has. But you continue to trash her." At this point, stood up and walked off the set.

Morgan later returned to the show say to Berenson, "What we need to do Alex is talk to each other in a civilized manner given we work on the same show, on the same team. You launching into a pretty personally derogatory monologue on one of your colleagues probably isn’t one of the best ways to go about it," but the following morning, Morgan was absent from Good Morning Britain.
In a short statement, ITV stated that Morgan had decided to leave the show and that they had "nothing to add."

Reid gave a diplomatic statement at the top of this morning's program, emphasizing that she and Morgan had contrasting views on a number of topics, saying "some of you will cheer, some of you will boo" Morgan's absence.

Following his departure, Morgan tweeted a picture of Winston Churchill with a quote about free speech, adding, "Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions."
On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Piers didn't leave because he was "being challenged". He left because a guy was throwing a bunch of scolding, nagging, personal attacks at him, and he took it for a while, then decided not to.
*sigh*
The homepage assertion that he stormed off after his co-host "challenged his reasons for disliking Markle" is an amazing piece of editorializing. He left because he had factual reasoning to back up his statements, and the only thing the "co-host" (who's normally the weather man) had to counter it was "Oh but her lived experiences say otherwise.", as if someone's "lived experiences" (aka their subjective viewpoint of a situation) can't be wrong in the face of evidence and facts.

what factual reasoning? dude had a hate-boner ever since she stopped talking to him.
