PewDiePie Tries Out Being A Vtuber, But It's All Part Of A Joke
Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie has become a Vtuber, traversing the vast expanses of MInecraft as a blue-eyed, silver-haired anime boy. But it's unlikely that we will see more of Vtuber PewDiePie any time soon, since this sudden change was a part of a "reverse face reveal" joke that PewDiePie started on his channel a few days back.
On Monday, viewers tuning in for PewDiePie's YouTube stream were surprised to see him being replaced by his 3D avatar relaxing in YouTuber's famous chair and taking his place for the day.
During his three-and-a-half hour Minecraft session, Vtuber PewDiePie did a number of things to entertain his viewers, such as comically walking in and out of screen while eating a chocolate bar and drinking a soda.
Meanwhile, viewers on Twitter began discussing why PewDiePie's avatar looks the way it does, while some expressed concerns about PewDiePie getting serious about Vtubing.

And while all this might get you hyped (or the opposite) that PewDiePie has entered his Vtuber phase for good, it's not likely the case, as his sudden Vtuber experiment is a part of a joke that he started a few days back. On January 23rd, 2021, upon his return to YouTube from a short break, PewDiePie announced that he was starting a "reverse face reveal," inspired by the success of fellow YouTubers Dream and Corpse Husband who have never shown their faces. Every video since then, PewDiePie has been replacing himself with a new virtual avatar, including an edited image of himself and his Minecraft skin.

So it's unlikely that we'll see more of Vtuber PewDiePie any time soon, or the real PewDiePie for that matter.

The continued normalization of VTubers is healthy for the community. Getting recognition from the top content creators will inspire newer creators and create new trends, which is only a net positive. The only people complaining about this are ideologically-driven "pre-debut" ENtubers who just want to complain on twitter all day. Because pewds bad for some reason.
