'Paint Grandpa,' Who Became A Meme For Eating Paint He Thought Was Yogurt, Dies Peacefully At 91

Bobby, the man behind the viral "Paint Grandpa" meme, has died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 91.
Late last week on November 2nd, Bobby's granddaughter Alex Stein shared a memorial video of Bobby on Instagram and TikTok. The video's description explained that, back in June, Bobby died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 91. November 2nd would have been his 92nd birthday.
The Instagram post further explains that, though he is missed, Bobby lived a "long, happy, healthy & fulfilling life as a doctor, musician, father, and grandfather" who "loved nothing more than to make people laugh."
Bobby first went viral in February 2019 when his granddaughter posted a photo of him to X / Twitter in which he has green paint smeared around his mouth. The caption reads, "Sooo my grandpa ate half a quart of paint today thinking it was yogurt." It gained over half a million likes over the next four years, inspiring countless memes and reactions while earning Bobby the nickname "Paint Grandpa."
After going viral, Alex continued to share funny videos of Bobby on his official Instagram page, gaining over 150,000 followers before his death. Most recently, Bobby's viral meme saw a resurgence on sites like TikTok where some users even dressed up like Paint Grandpa for Halloween

Since the news of his passing broke, users across social media have been offering their condolences to Bobby's family and remembering the meme legend online through posts, tributes and memes expressing their sadness.
