Oscar Isaac has been tapped to play Solid Snake, the iconic protagonist of Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear video game franchise. Deadline broke the story earlier this morning.

It's massive news for the project, which will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Snake had been played by David Hayter in Metal Gear Solids 1-4, while Kiefer Sutherland took on the role for Metal Gear Solid 5.

Isaac was rumored to be in line for the iconic role since he expressed interest in a MArch 2019 interview. In December of 2019, Kojima tweeted pictures of himself with Isaac, further adding fuel to the fire.

The adaptation sent shockwaves through Twitter, as people were stoked to see the actor land the part.

There's no word yet on if the cinematic adaptation of Metal Gear Solid will follow the events of the first game or if it will be an original story. Either way, it will be interesting to see Isaac's approach to Snake's iconic voice.

And EVERY story posting about this is using Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain pictures, meaning they aren't even showing Solid Snake correctly.

Agreed, Hugh Jackman is perfect for this role, in fact, he's would fit for MGS2's Solid Snake.

Kojima is a full 16 years older than Issac, and would you ever know it? People talk about how Keanu and Selma are the fountain of youths, I think Kojima is secretly a vampire.

For Keanu I think the facial hair is a huge part of it because if you look at his shaved face in the new Bill and Ted he actually does look middle aged. Sakurai is another Japanese game dev who looks younger than his actual age. Hell Sakurai looked OLDER in his younger years. Look a a photo of Sakurai from when Kirby was still new and compare it to now.
