This afternoon, OnlyFans has signaled its intent to block sexually explicit content from being uploaded and shared on the site, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The reasoning behind it is strikingly similar to when Tumblr made the decision to ban adult content back in 2018, citing increased pressure from banks and payment processors that do not want to condone such content. The immediate outcry on social media was apparent, and many people are convinced that it will fall the same way that Tumblr did.

While the comparisons to Tumblr were being made, there were many who expressed outrage over the apparent shedding off of the userbase that helped grow OnlyFans into the large-scale operation that it is today. Anger coming from those who had OnlyFans accounts and were afraid that they may find themselves out of an income source quickly posted their reactions on Twitter en masse.

Much like with the Thot Audit, there were many who saw this as a rallying cry against the thots and took to Twitter to express their own views, often with memes.

While the exact details remain to be seen, the initial reports of only "sexually explicit videos" being blocked may not harm the content base of the platform as much as expected. While the majority of content shared is in video and picture form, the majority of the money made is from more specialized services, such as phone calls, texts, live chats, etc., and there are other platforms and ways to send videos between fans and content creators.

We'll have to wait till October to see how far-reaching of a ban this may be, but there is still plenty of space within the site to make money for those who want to keep to the code of conduct.

Concerned Troll

I mean… Tumblr, even before the porn ban, had a reputation for… um… how do I put this… lunatics.

But even more than that, Tumblr – not everyone had a Tumblr, but anyone might have a Tumblr. LegalEagle in some of his more recent videos has a series of links to other social media sites, including an OnlyFans – and the OnlyFans is a troll. People will say "check out my OnlyFans!" as a joke, when they would never have one. People would have never done that for Tumblr. Tumblr had a lot of porn, but OnlyFans is porn. This is probably the purest Rattner since Rattner.

OnlyFans is gonna kill themselves off for sure.

Does calling OnlyFans cam girls "sex workers" feel bizarre to anyone else? Like, the term technically fits so you can't say it's wrong, but it just doesn't feel like it aligns with the connotations of what a sex worker is, the sort of life prospects they have to deal with, the hazards they face, etc.

True. When I hear the term "sex worker" I instantly think prostitute.

Explicit media seems like it would be within a prostitute's skillset.

Interestingly, I've heard this recommended as a way to discover if a hooker is an undercover cop. Only ask to pay her to pose for nude photos, which is totally legal. A cop probably would not agree.

It's like if Walmart decided to stop selling food items.

Or as if Seven/Eleven stopped selling nachos.
Honestly, I hope This doesn't translate to all those E-girls and simps moving over to Newgrounds like how what happened when Tumblr did this.
NG isn't ready for those type of people, nor will they ever be.
Hope Chaturbate isn't as restrictive.

Anyone notice how banks are screwing platforms with adult content? First Tumblr, then Pornhub, now Onlyfans.

I don't even get why they care. Granted, it's funny because it's OnlyFans, but why do financial conglomerates care about porn on the Internet? It doesn't affect them in any way.

I think I heard it's because porn sites like this have way more chargebacks and other stupid bullshit happen. Somebody feels guilty, or has a partner find out, or some other nonsense so people think "well, time to make a stink at the bank rather than accept responsibility."

I'm not saying that the banks aren't still awful for doing this, the idea that they can dictate the kinds of services that exist is hellish, but it gives a little more explanation.

Which is interesting because /pol/ says that the people who control the banks want to destroy our society with porn.

Electric Dictator Bedebao

I don't get why anyone even pays for real people porn anyway.

I think that's why OnlyFans has the reputation as the "simp" site. Most adult men consume pornography, but OnlyFans just seems to be pictures and videos of nude women that you can see for free on most other websites, so the only explanation for why people pay for it is an attachment to that particular woman, which is kind of sad.

….but paying for cartoon porn makes sense?

Quiet_boi

Yeah, because nobody likes to starve and the back pains and crambs that the R34 artist get for doing their work are very much worth something.

Just wait until Pornhub bans pornography in 2022
