The new official art for London's Piccadilly Circus station has some new official art befitting its whimsical name, but few across the pond seem thrilled with the design. The art by David Hockney was shared by London mayor Sadiq Khan last night.

Hockney is a renowned and impressive English painter meaning the Piccadilly piece's vibe, which a charitable person may call amusing and a critic might call amateurish, is likely intentional.

Nevertheless, English tube users were critical of Hockney's work, and took to MS Paint to parody it.

Hockney's work is part of London's "Let's Do London" campaign, which is designed to rev up English tourism to the capital as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted on museums and music venues, so while Hockney's art may not inspire much confidence in the London art scene, there are places where the British can see some masterful work.
