The FDA ordered a recall today for Oatly oat milk and other beverages over microbial contamination. Reportedly, a range of products from the Lyons Magnus beverage line including Oatly, Stumptown Cold Brew, Premier Protein and a variety of other alternative milks may be contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii, which can make people very sick and even kill them.

The recall will likely devastate the alternative milk selection at many coffee shops and home pantries alike as the contamination is reportedly widespread.

Fans of alternative milks posted about the recall on various social media platforms, including Twitter. Most worried about specific social groups associated with alternative milks, mostly in jest.

Many posters expressed their pre-existing dislike of Oatly for its use of seed oils, allegedly bad oats and lack of profitability.

Despite the various memes and worried reactions, some also suspected there might be a silver lining.

If you're concerned about your own alt-milk products, the FDA has published a list of lots and product codes that may be contaminated in the recall.

I can imagine fake milk was made for people can't process regular milk. But just like the "Gluten-free" fad a few years ago, people put milk alternatives onto pedestals for both being "Healthier than actual milk" and "Better for the environment than what Big Dairy makes". So as more demand for milk alternatives rises, the market become flooded with more milk alternatives to fill the demand. Great for the original people that can't have milk, but it becomes a butt of jokes we see today.

In regarding to the rapeseed oil, let me tell you…. I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine
