New York Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett joined the team this season after a miserable head coaching stint in Denver where he led the Broncos to a 4-11 record before getting fired.

For some reason, Sean Payton, a previously successful head coach with the Saints who took over the Broncos' gig for the 2023 season, called Hackett's stint "one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL." He also called the Jets the "offseason champs" after their big trade for Aaron Rodgers, the star quarterback whose ankle more or less exploded within four minutes of the Jets' season.

All of this made the Jets' 31-21 victory over the Broncos on Sunday personal, and in line with the current internet vernacular, the Jets' social media account trolled Payton with a little Kevin James posting.

Despite Jets' coaches constantly downplaying the impact of Payton's preseason comments on the team during the week, the team clearly rallied behind Hackett, who received a game ball from the Jets after the victory. In his post-game handshake with Payton, Jets head coach Robert Saleh appeared to tell him, "Stay humble."

NFL fans had plenty of memes at Payton's expense after losing to the Jets, who were a bit of a circus heading into Sunday's game.

The team had not led a game once throughout the first four weeks of the season and their replacement starting quarterback, Zach Wilson, had, at times, looked cartoonishly terrible during the beginning of the season.

Considering Payton is now 1-4 with the Broncos after calling Hackett's Broncos' head coaching job one of the worst ever, perhaps Hackett could have responded with the Ok Smart Guy, Let's See YOU Take A Crack At It meme.
