(The Pokémon Company)

The Pokémon Company continued generating hype for November's Pokémon Scarlet and Violet by releasing a new trailer this morning that introduced the game's new "villainous" collective, Team Star, alongside some new Pokémon and characters.

The trailer's main point was to introduce the "treasure hunt" plot that will be central to the game, presumably one of the three adventures the company has said exists in the game. However, as is the case with any Pokémon trailer, the mechanics took a backseat to the reveals of new characters and Pokémon in the eyes of social media.

The clear star of the trailer was Mela, the leader of the villainous gang that's the focus of every Pokémon game's B-plot. Mela leads Team Star's Fire Crew, a ragtag group of troublemakers at the player's academy. Mela also seems to lead from atop a vehicle that can best be described as Mad Max-meets-roller-rink-birthday-party.

The trailer also revealed also the game's Grass Gym leader, Brassius, an older-looking gentleman who wields a thorny whip. If you're familiar with what the internet typically finds attractive, you know there's a strong chance social media may soon be flooded with artwork related to Brassius.

Finally, the trailer revealed three new Pokémon: a big, rock-type crab named Klawf, a fire-ghost-type called Ceruledge, and a fire-psychic-type Armarouge, the latter two of which caused "Mega Man" to trend on Twitter.

There are still over two full months until Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release, which means there will likely be several more trailers introducing new content for the internet to drool over before anyone gets their hands on the games.
