Thanks to artificial intelligence coming to iPhones and iMessage soon, it will now reportedly be easier to say bad words in a text message.

At Apple's WWDC 2023 conference, where new products and features are introduced, the company shared earlier today that a new version of autocorrect is coming soon and will use AI to remember your vocabulary, including the curse words you prefer.

This fix addresses a problem that many iPhone users have faced over numerous years, many of whom have been "ducking" furious (as certain memes attest) about autocorrect encouraging them to use more family-friendly language.

During the presentation of the new feature, Apple executive Craig Federighi shared the news in a witty way.

The response online so far has been largely positive. The new feature promises not just to make it easier for people to curse, but to fit unconventional spellings or non-English words they use frequently (even your favorite internet slang).

Many commented that this new feature is an appropriate use of large language models, which are designed to track patterns and then offer the most likely response to fill in a blank.

It also marks yet another entry of artificial intelligence into daily life.

You know, I don't think cutting-edge machine learning technology was necessary to get over tech's aversion to letting people swear.

Surely the issues with people not being able to swear were just because the swear words had been excluded from the autocorrector's dictionary?

No, no, now the AI will automatically punch up your message to grandma with some sentence enhancers because you clearly forgot them.
