Minecraft Memers Have One Request: No "Frickin" Cursing

The Internet can be a morally bankrupt place. Filled with the foul-mouthed, dirty-minded teens, the vast stretches of the world wide web are filled with vulgar four-letter words, pornography and, of course, bizarre and off-color memes. But as Minecraft moderators stand between the filthy dregs of the web and the virgin eyes of the user-base, their occasional abuse of power can give way to new, fresh memes that speak truth to frickin’ power.

Play time's over, says the moderators of the Christian servers of Minecraft. If a latest batch of memes are to be believed, moderators have warned some Minecrafters to watch their language, especially when using swear words in bowdlerized form, such as “heck” and “frick.” But the Minecrafters aren’t going to sit back and keep their gosh darn frickin’ traps shut. They’re going to meme up and fight back.

Much in the way how "please do not to swear on my profile" became a popular catchphrase over the past few months, Minecrafters have started crafting a joke that mocks the moderators' over-the-top policing of vulgar language within the community. Hey, it beats getting the boot from your favorite game.

“Frick” has become a rallying cry for the free speech movement on the puritanical servers within the blocky world of Minecraft, and throughout Reddit, users have voiced their dissent by challenging the mods, and telling them to go to Heck.

Such sentiment of dissent is especially visible on Reddit, where many have raised issues with excessive warnings and bans from the moderators over using seemingly tamed words like “frick” and “heck.” Thus, these two words, ever so reminiscent of our innocent childhood, have grown into a rallying cry for free speech on the puritanical servers within the Minecraft universe.

And it turns out, both “frick” and “please do not swear on my profile" have long been used by YouTuber sammyclassicsonicfan, a young gamer known for playing video games and shouting “frick” at the camera. And while Sammy’s aversion to swearing may be the root for the up-tick in usage of the word, it’s the apparently the Minecraft mods who triggered the latest wave of "frickin" jokes.

On the upside, in the face of the zero-tolerance policy against "swearing," the meme has allowed disgruntled Minecrafters to blow off some steam. However, in a world where some of the most prominent and famous gamers have gotten away with saying much, much worse things, it certainly comes as a surprise to see people getting banned for trying not to curse.

The Minecraft community seems to take the threats made by mods pretty seriously, considering most of them are daring each other to say such NSFW words as “heck.” However, there seems to be a disconnect between users and mods about what they consider to be inappropriate language. Surely, they’re all just concerned for the safety of the children playing the game, but at what cost? How many more will be frickin’ banned over this? Shoot, only time will tell.
