WARNING: This article will contain a potential spoiler about Eternals and the MCU.

Some Marvel fans are coming up with drastic measures to prevent spoilers after Variety critic Matt Donnelly tweeted out some news revealed in the post-credits scene of Marvel's Eternals, though some are debating if the detail even counts as a spoiler.

The offending tweet is thus:

(If you want to avoid spoilers and are still reading, now is the time to click away).

The news naturally got fans of pop singer Harry Styles and Marvel movies excited, and there were many tweets celebrating his inclusion in the MCU. However, there were also many tweets from people who were very angry that Donnelly revealed the surprise casting, which hadn't been announced prior to Eternals release.

One user went so far as to propose a $1 million fine to anyone who leaks information about a film online.

This all seems rather drastic considering that Donnelly didn't reveal any details about the film's plot or the contents of the post-credits scene Styles appears in (aka "spoil" it), and many noted that the appearance of one of the world's biggest stars in a Marvel film was in fact something a film reporter should report on and it was going to leak anyway.

As evidenced by the fact that Donnelly's tweet is still up, it seems he will likely face no repercussions—and certainly not a $1 million fine—for tweeting about the cast of a movie.

I'm surprised the MCU is introducing the walking date rape drug.

I don't mind spoilers myself, but its poor form to ruin it for those who like the surprise. What i'm looking forward to is the shitstorm of tweets when people find out about how "problematic" the subject of the spoiler is in comic continuity.

People who deliberately spoil anything (movies, video games, series) are fucking assholes.

Man, to think I was a overly obsessed Marvel fanboy at one point. Do I think spoiling a movie should be frowned upon? Yeah, sure, why not. I'd probably be upset too (If i actually cared for the new marvel movies.) But the idea to fine a person a million dollars is so unbearably stupid, its hilarious.
