Last night on Twitter / X, one memer poked the wrong beehive by wading into the ongoing streaming vs. 'real job' debate with a meme at content creator Markiplier's expense, which promptly got ratioed so badly that "Markiplier" began trending on the app.

One week ago, Markiplier uploaded a short vlog to his YouTube channel titled "I'm tired." The video was not a "retirement from YouTube" announcement or any other sort of confirmation of his fans' worst fears, but rather a simple update and explanation about why he hasn't been making as many YouTube videos as he normally does and that there may be fewer uploads to his channel in the coming weeks.

Perhaps unaware of the content of the video, one Twitter memer posted a joke at Markiplier's expense, posting a graphic that poked fun at him for being "tired" of "playing video games once a week and making millions."

Unfortunately for the user, who eventually deleted the meme, Markiplier is very much not just "playing video games once a week." He is currently working on a full-length science-fiction film called Iron Lung that he wrote and is directing and starring in.

The content of Markiplier's "I'm Tired" video features him discussing the monumental challenges the project has faced and how it has affected him, saying that his focus on finishing the film is pulling him away from making YouTube content.

If they didn't know all that before posting their meme, they quickly found out, as Twitter users and fans of Markiplier rushed to his defense on the platform.

Some users stated that the meme may have been more fitting for other popular streamers, but it seems even some of the least sympathetic folks towards streamers have acknowledged that Markiplier's situation is different than others who have voiced complaints about burnout in the past.
