It's now day four of post-Mario trailer life, and while the world still reels from Chris Pratt's Linda Belcher-esque take on the world's most famous fictional plumber, some have taken to wondering if Mario's design could also be improved in some way.

While most have agreed that the animation in the trailer looks good, some aren't thrilled with Illumination Studio's design of Mario, which alters some things from Nintendo's iconic design, such as his butt, which looks disappointingly flat. On Saturday, Redditor CartoonWarp took a crack at giving the movie Mario a design similar to how he looks in his video games, which proved quite popular on the /r/gaming subreddit.

While the poster bravely risked becoming one of those Western Artists the online community loves to meme on, it seems their design was well-received. A TikTok by itsnickholiday praising their take on the character gained over 1.4 million views, while the original post itself gained over 61,000 points.

Others on Reddit followed suit, posting how they'd tweak the character's design to be truer to his classic model.

While Mario's design is certainly not as maligned as movie Sonic's first design, it was inevitable that people would think there's room for improvement. Still, there should be no reason for Nintendo and Illumination to delay the film in order to fix Mario's design. However, there's still time to rerecord all of Mario's lines, which some of us are desperately hoping for.
