Maegan Hall, the cop at the center of the Tennessee Police Sex Scandal that rocked the internet and spawned a massive wave of memes earlier this year, has now filed a lawsuit alleging that her male colleagues in the La Vergne police department sexually "groomed" her.

According to a report from the New York Post, the lawsuit alleges:

“Where Ms. Hall sought role models at her new job, she instead found predators. In place of offering professional development, her supervisors and the chief of police groomed her for sexual exploitation. They colluded in using their authority to systematically disarm her resistance and entrap her in degrading and abusive sexual relationships, even sharing tips on the best ways to manipulate and exploit her.”

The lawsuit, 51 pages long, contains hefty allegations of abusive relationship tactics (though many online took issue with use of the word grooming). It states that Sgt. Powell, the first of Hall's coworkers to engage her in an affair, was persistent in requests for sex and threatened to kill himself when Hall attempted to end the relationship.

Hall also claims that the Chief of the police department, Burrel Davis, "encouraged this behavior and shared in the pornography and sexual fantasy of mutually abusing Ms. Hall with his trusted supervisor, Ty McGowan." The lawsuit is seeking an unknown amount for "damages for lost wages, medical expenses, mental suffering, emotional distress and reputational harm."

Online, many commenters were not sympathetic to news of Hall's lawsuit, with several users claiming she was at fault for the scandal and that the lawsuit was an attempt to dodge accountability. There is no timeline set for Hall's case in court.

Wasn't it already revealed that she was in an "open marriage" and that her husband was fully aware of what was going on the entire time? How did they work that into the lawsuit? Was he intimidated into silence?

It's also entirely likely that this lawsuit is simply the result of her trying to change how people view her. If my sex scandal became worldwide news, I would be looking for every opportunity to clear my name, and if I could make money from it, that would just be a plus.

There is the possibility the husband thought it was consensual on her end but she lied due to the hold they had over her.

Provided this is how it went down.

That doesn't necessarily preclude her current story. She might have either not told him it was coercive or he might have just have stayed silent because he was afraid of her suffering from retribution. Not saying it makes it true either, but it's just not really evidence against it.
