Clocking in at number six ahead of Etsy and Home Depot, the inclusion of Long John Silvers on the list baffled many Twitter users, who expressed their confusion and amusement throughout the day.

Aside from the general reactions, several posters also speculated that Long John Silver's must be the front for a criminal organization, similarly to Los Pollos Hermanos in Breaking Bad. This idea is the basis of a long-running internet conspiracy theory, which proposes that "Long John Silver's exists to launder money made from the illicit sale of marijuana":":https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/long-john-silvers-conspiracy-theory. Many on TikTok, Reddit and other platforms have spread these conspiracies since they emerged back in 2019.
No way is Long John Silvers there without being a front for the biggest crime turducken in the country https://t.co/cZJk4hsgtj

Several commentators even went so far as to demand an investigation of the relatively obscure fast-food chain in reaction to the development.
Long John silvers… which sells fish.. to thousands of people… does more business online than Walmart?!? Lmfao. I either need a retraction from Barstool or a Congressional investigation https://t.co/eqHt2JeQyO

Many also joked about their love of Long John Silver's and the generous portions of fried food served there.

The brand of Long John Silver’s itself got involved, using the viral moment as a means to promote itself. Some also suggested that the whole thing may have been manufactured by Barstool Sports for the sake of publicity since the list might not have gotten as much interaction had the 10 items on it been totally predictable.

Concerned Troll
…this is obviously a troll. That website is just a redirect anyway, and I think they only bought it after this list went viral.

Honestly, the fact that it's online sales really raises the red flag for me, and the fact that a place like McDonald's or Taco Bell isn't on the list really sells me. Like, you're telling me that a far more popular restaurant like McDonald's, or a far more mobile friendly fast food place like Taco Bell isn't also at least on the list?
Either the list made a fatal error, or something is truly fishy at Long John Silver's. Because their food certainly isn't.
