Latest Pfizer Profits Report Triggers A Spew Of Anti-Vaccine And Pro-Conspiracy Memes
Pfizer, the company behind one of the most widely used coronavirus vaccines, released its quarterly financial reporting for Q1 2022, revealing that the pharmaceutical company made billions of dollars. As a result, a certain type of anti-vax memer picked up on that news and ran with it in a predictable direction.
Conservatives like Marjorie Taylor Greene took advantage of the news to post conspiracy theories about the vaccine, apparently based on a document released by the company describing trials of the vaccine. Greene and her supporters online have seized upon a screenshot of a document put out by Pfizer, saying the company did not have enough information to rule out a negative effect on pregnant women by the vaccine.
Some took the opportunity to mock Greene and the idea that Pfizer would willingly publish the crucial information that showed it was behind a vast global conspiracy all along.
Taking a look at the current news cycle, many speculated that the leak of a Supreme Court relating to the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade must have been planned to overshadow the release of Pfizer earnings and documents.
Overall, conspiracy theory memes responding to the latest Pfizer news fit into a regular pattern, inhabiting a unique aesthetic somewhere between Boomer humor and schizoposting.
Am I the only one who is still raging about the injustice of vaccine mandates & the whole tyranny of government control? Now the Pfizer data is being slowly released & there’s folk saying ‘no one was forced to get vaccinated’ are they serious? #pfizerdocuments #VaccineSideEffects pic.twitter.com/CevZZYIuWv

Oil makes the world run. Yet, for Q1 of 2022, Pfizer earned more than 5 times the profit of Exxon-Mobile. The difference is one product is needed, the other is coerced upon a population.

Additionally, the recent news led some to remember Pfizer’s own memeing earlier in the pandemic.
We're now on the down portion of the arc of vaccine hysteria. There's currently more supply than demand. The peak of the arc was Nov. 2021, hysteria was in full swing and Pfizer sent out a meme claiming anyone questioning them was questioning science, just like Fauci had claimed https://t.co/KpptEHCWEk

People online have theorized, memed and advocated for alternative facts about vaccination and vaccines throughout the pandemic, so don’t expect this kind of meme to die out anytime soon.
Why is Pfizer trending? Short version: Because a bunch of conspiratorial half-wits with all the scientific, statistical acumen of a particularly inept hamster are, yet again, incapable of understanding (a) what passive reporting is (b) basic fractions 🤡🤡🤡 pic.twitter.com/EgXtsqrPxx
