Fans of some premiere Konami titles—while not fans of Konami itself—may have some promising news to look forward to. A slew of internet rumors suggests that the gaming company which has angered fans with its treatment of its top IPs may be outsourcing those IPs to other developers, meaning they may just come back with the quality Konami has struggled to meet in recent years.

According to VGC, a Silent Hill game may be in the works with Bloober Team, the studio that handled the recent game The Medium. "We’ve been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we’re doing this with a very famous gaming publisher," Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno said in a recent interview. "I can’t tell you who. I can’t tell you what the project is, but I’m pretty sure when people realize we’re working on it, they will be very excited." Considering the horror IPs tied to famous gaming publishers, Silent Hill seems the most likely IP he's talking about.

This would be different from another report that Konami has outsourced Silent Hill to a prominent Japanese developer, but if it were true, it may mean Konami has two Silent Hill games in the works.

VGC also reports that Konami's recent failure with Metal Gear Survive has them thinking about outsourcing the next game in the franchise to another company, along with a new game in the Castlevania series, but any results from the rumored deals would be years away.

The rumored outsourcing of Metal Gear led many to think of one name: Hideo Kojima, the auteur of the series who left Konami after multiple disputes, leaving Metal Gear Solid V and the frustratingly-abandoned Silent Hills in his wake.

Of course, Kojima wasn't the only auteur who fans wanted to see handle Silent Hill.

Of course, this is all speculation, but it's fun to think about the directions in which these classic gaming franchises may be headed.

What if they outsourced the Castlevania game to ArtPlay?

If it's true, it's something that should've happened way back when Konami exited the Video game industry. They weren't gonna make any more entries and thus no more money from these franchises so why hold on to them?

Also, I like the idea of a Silent Hill/Metal Gear Solid crossover although, if I'm being honest Metal Gear Solid is one of those series that, while I've heard great things and it's one of those series I've always wanted to give a shot I never know where start with it.

MGS3 is the earliest in the timeline at 1964 (and my personal favorite), and the "Subsistence" version includes both pre-Solid Metal Gears. If you want to start with simple game-play (relatively speaking) but also want good graphics, I suggest Twin Snakes for GameCube. Everything except Ground Zeros (prologue to MGS5)/Phantom Pain (the rest of MGS5, both for PlayStation 3/4 or Steam) and Twin Snakes are included in the Legacy Collection for PlayStation 3.
