Johnny Depp Wins Defamation Trial Against Amber Heard, With Many Online Celebrating And Memeing His Win
On March 2nd, 2019, Johnny Depp initiated the defamation lawsuit that lead to the months-long trial and cultural spectacle that was Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp, and three years later, that action has finally concluded.
After weeks of interviews, testimony, evidence and legal back-and-forth, the jury finished up their deliberation and came back with a verdict in the case just a short while ago. Amber Heard was in attendance for the verdict reading, while Johnny Depp was noticeably absent from the courtroom.

I don’t think #teamAmberHeard realizes a lot of us who believe #JohnnyDepp are part of the 97%, are WOMEN, and have experienced some sort of abuse in our life. We watched the trial, we saw the evidence, we chose who to believe. #TeamJohnnyDepp #JusticeForJohhnyDepp

While the lawsuit itself is for $50 million, of which Depp was awarded $15 million, the true value of the trial was far greater, as it was often said that Depp was merely fighting for his chance to show everything to the public. The public outcry after he was labeled an abuser, which led to his controversial exit from the Fantastic Beasts franchise, was partly what he was attempting to undo, and social media has shown that many support Depp.
It's unclear how this verdict will impact Amber Heard, who for years has faced backlash and attacks from fans trying to get her removed from the Aquaman franchise after leaked therapy audio showed that she was an aggressor in some of the conflicts between the celebrity couple.
#JohnnyDepp has won.No matter how the verdict goes now, male victims are empowered, women are empowered to stand up for the truth too. He's cleared his name to all but those desperate to maintain a gender biased lie, and those with a financial stake in it.#AbuseHasNoGender

The reaction to the verdict was intense online, with many people on social media quickly celebrating Depp's win. This was seen with the hashtag #TruthWins and #HEDIDIT trending shortly after his win. Before the verdict was even said, people leading up to the event were posting about how Depp deserves the win, and how Heard should be blacklisted from Hollywood for everything that was unearthed during the trial.
Johnny Depp WINS!!!!

Following the verdict, Amber Heard's team uploaded a message to her Twitter page, with many also suspecting that she may try to appeal the verdict on multiple different grounds, either as an attempt to overturn the entire thing, or reduce her substantial amount of money owed to Depp.

ESPECIALLY considering how high the US hurdles for defamation are, so it's a pretty cut & dry result.
