John Boyega has struck back against criticism of the latest Star Wars film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the final one featuring his character Finn and the finale of the "Skywalker Saga." Despite earning more than a billion dollars at the worldwide box office, the film received a mixed response from fans and critics.

Responding to a comment from a Twitter user who called the Rise of Skywalker "embarrassing," Boyega wrote, "Embarrassing ? LOL you wish."

"Very fulfilling, some disappointments but yet not that big of a deal," he continued. Everyone has moved on….."

Boyega's comments come just a few weeks after his co-star Daisy Ridley also reacted to the backlash. Appearing on the DragCast podcast, Ridley expressed disappointment with the response to the film.

“It’s changed film by film honestly, like 98% it’s so amazing, this last film it was really tricky," Ridley said. "January was not that nice. It was weird, I felt like all of this love that we’d sort of been shown the first time around, I was like, ‘Where’s the love gone?’"

Boyega has received the brunt of Star Wars complaints since his casting in 2014. Some online took part in a racist troll campaign against the actor due to his role as Finn, a runaway Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awaken.

Over the years, hiss candor on the Star Wars films has made him a rarity in the franchise, offering criticism of both the fans and the movies. Before the release of the Rise of Skywalker, he criticized Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

"I liked the idea of these characters being challenged and separated and stressed, like everyone’s just trying to get to each other – that excited me," Boyega told The Hollywood Reporter. "But I will be honest in saying I think that they could have done better with it, especially with Finn and Rose."

Late last year, Boyega went viral with a tweet mocking the Reylo shipping fanbase.

He later joked about the response in an Instagram video that showed him dancing off the comments. Say what you will about John Boyega because he's likely to not care.
