J.D. Vance Insults Reporter Asking Him, 'What Makes You Happy?,' Leading To New Wave Of Jokes Surrounding The VP Candidate

Since J.D. Vance became the running mate of Donald Trump three weeks ago, the internet has learned a lot about what he doesn't like (childless women, Pikachu) and joked a lot about what he's rumored to like (couches, videos of dolphins and women).

Vance has historically poor favorability ratings in recent polls, and perhaps Fox journalist Charlie Langton had that predicament in mind when he asked Vance at a rally in Detroit today, "What makes you smile? What makes you happy?"

Vance took the opportunity to insult Langton and discuss more things that made him angry.

"I smile at a lot of things, including bogus questions from media, man," he said, breaking into a laugh.

The first portion of the clip was tweeted by "Kamala HQ," Kamala Harris's campaign account, presumably as an attempt to paint Vance as ornery and joyless. In the full clip, he goes on to say that he's "angry" about what Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are doing to America and praises Donald Trump's sense of humor.

Still, regardless of context, numerous social media users found it a characteristic unforced error that Vance responded to a perceived "softball" question and used it to insult the reporter and then go on the attack against his political opponents.

While Vance's favorability numbers are reportedly tanking, it seems that people feel there's less of a chance he will be replaced on the Republican ticket as the VP nominee.

On Polymarket, the question of whether Vance will be replaced is now polling at 4 percent, down from 12 percent during Dolphingate.
