Jay-Z Comments On '$500k Or Dinner With Jay-Z' Meme, Says Take The Money, Obviously
Since at least 2017, the world has intensely argued over the question, "Which would you rather have: $500k or Dinner with Jay-Z?"
Okay, granted, it wasn't that much of an argument. Many who came across the question answered immediately that no-strings-attached $500,000 was obviously a better deal than a meal's worth of conversation with the business mogul and legendary rapper—that is, until 2021 when a Grindset-minded tweeter said that dinner with Jay-Z was the better choice because the great business secrets Jay-Z would impart during that meal would result in $500,000 and more.
Finally, Jay-Z has weighed in on the debate, saying essentially, "Obviously, you take the money."
In a recent interview with CBS, Jay-Z was asked the question and told Gayle King that someone should take the money, and if they really wanted his business acumen, they could just listen to his records, such as The Blueprint.
"You gotta take the money," he said. “You got all (my business advice) in the music for $10.99 -- that’s a bad deal. I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal. Take the $500,000, go buy some albums, and listen to the albums. It’s all there."
Jay's commentary on the meme sparked some jokes about how Jay would act in a meal a person passed up $500,000 for, imagining the rapper as extremely not interested in sharing his supposed oodles of wisdom.

The whole "hustle culture" mindset seems to be heavily based around the completely nonsensical notion that anyone, even with $1 can turn that into a billion if they just "do business" good enough, but "do business" is that Underpants Gnome step that just says "???", and that there are certain really rich people who just figured out the secret to that ??? step, which means they can tell you that secret and then that can make you rich too.
They don't seem to be aware of the basic economics of the fact that people usually get rich by selling some kind of product or service that people actually want/need. I'm sure Jay Z has a good business sense of knowing how to invest and market to get as rich as he did, but he started that from a foundation of getting rich by writing music that a huge number of people wanted to listen to. If he didn't have that career to start, then he wouldn't have been able to create his own successful record label, start additional businesses, get endorsement deals, invest in different places etc. and grow the money further.
If you actually are enterprising, then a lump payment of $500k is a bonanza that opens up so many opportunities to you to start a business and make something. But in the hustle mindset, you're not really supposed to actually work, you just want to learn a secret exploit to make money without working or making anything.
