When Hawk Tuah went viral earlier this year, the internet got itself into a frenzy trying to uncover information regarding the viral video's star, Haliey Welch.

Welch largely scrubbed her internet presence after becoming an internet darling, which made it seem like she suddenly materialized out of thin air when she told everyone in the world that the key to a good bedroom life was to give a man a little "Hawk Tuah and Spit On That Thang."

However, "Hawk Tuah" might be the second time Welch has gone viral in her life.

On July 31st, 2019, Redditor CavarX posted a video to /r/HoldMyCosmo, a subreddit devoted to fail videos of women doing painful and dangerous stunts with humorous outcomes (the male equivalent being, Hold My Beer).

In the Reddit clip, a woman puts her hand on a dartboard, daring someone to throw a dart and try not to hit her. While the man offscreen warns her he might puncture her hand with his shot, she says in what is now a very memorable Southern twang, "Pain ain't nothin but a thang." She then gets stabbed in the hand with the dart.

The video became the top post on /r/HoldMyCosmo since then, gaining over 39,000 points (upvotes) in five years. It also saw significant spread around social media, with popular reposts appearing on YouTube and Tumblr, among many international sites.

As of the time of writing, we can't confirm that the woman in the video is Talk Tuah star Haliey Welch, but we are not the only ones who have noticed the visual and aural similarity between the woman in the clip and the "Hawk Tuah Girl."

In June 2024, at the height of "Find out who Hawk Tuah is"-mania, Instagram user flawlism posted the clip claiming it was the mysterious Hawk Tuah girl.

The newest comments on the /r/HoldMyCosmo post are also filled with people speculating that it's Welch. A post today in the /r/RedScarePod subreddit claims that the girl in the video is "the Hawk Tuah girl from 5 years ago."

Until Welch clarifies whether or not the woman in the /r/HoldMyCosmo clip is her, we won't know for sure if she went viral five years before she told Americans to "Spit On That Thang."

Still, the video could be a look at the elusive past of "Hawk Tuah Girl" that's been hiding in plain sight all along.
