Trump, Jr. Hits Reply-All, Tweets Incriminating Emails
After spending the last year or so denying collusion between the Russian government and Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump, Jr., tweeted a series of emails confirming that he did, indeed, plan to meet with a Russian lawyer to obtain damaging information on Hillary Clinton.
Just in case this is your first time online in a few days, let's back up a little bit (and welcome back to the circus). Let's hope the break was refreshing and that you're eager to dive back into this craziness. On July 8th, 2017, The New York Times reported on a meeting between Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and key members of Trump's presidential campagin, including his eldest son Donald trump Jr., his then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Over the next few days, several associates of Team Trump made media appearances in order to defend Trump Jr. and the meeting in questions. On July 10th, Kellyanne Conway spent 35 minutes--much longer than the interview was scheduled for--on CNN fighting with anchor Chris Cuomo over the nature of the meeting, even as her team at the White House told Cuomo that she needed to wrap up.
However, within days, more information on the meeting came to light. Just before the New York Times could follow up on their story, Donald Jr., in the spirit of "transparency," tweeted three pages of emails between him and Rob Goldstone, whom President Trump first met while trying to set up business dealings between the Trump Organization and Russia. Goldstone is also a former tabloid reporter and entertainment publicist because that's how these things work. The purpose of those emails: Setting up the meeting that was recently reported on by the Times.

And just when you thought Trump had put the phone down, he tweeted a fourth page, which, among other things, sees him learning about an ongoing effort by the Russian government to aide the Trump campaign, adding that he would love to receive the information, "especially later in the summer."
To give a sense of how explicit the emails get, Goldstone write, "This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump."

Not mincing words, upon learning of the emails, former-Vice Presidential candidate Senator Tim Kaine said, "We're now beyond obstruction of justice in terms of what's being investigated, this is moving into perjury, false statements, and even potentially treason."
Since 10 a.m. this morning, the internet has been exploding with jokes about the emails, mostly dancing around the question of why Trump Jr. would admit to something so incriminating. The price of transparency is high.
Oh wow, @DonaldJTrumpJr is really proving that this is the most transparent administration in American history. pic.twitter.com/cpRHOqCA83

Trolling has become a tradition of the Trump family.
Mnemonic
The sudden burgeoning interest in emails leaves me wondering what Dems were more focused on when Hillary was lying about her server being hacked.

I lost my shit at that last tweet. This is truly the best/worst timeline

This isn't as bad as I thought.
From the frontpage description, I thought the emails were released by accident. Now THAT would have dropped my jaw a few good feet.

Implying conspiracy theorists would do any research
poochyena
really? It isn't more surprising to you that he did it on purpose?
Walrus the Tree
Not really. I mean, sure, the truth of the matter is pretty damn surprising too, but the amount of incompetence it would take to accidentally tweet out those emails is way more frightening.

I am American, and even I have no idea whats going on at this point!

At this point, I don’t know what the fuck is going on of this Russian hacking anymore…

Same. To me it's become like trying to untangle 20 headphones in the dark

Stop being in denial, Trump won the election. What does Russia even have to do with this?
Oh wow that's actually kind of convincing.
Okay I don't think this is going anywhere.
Oh wow the Trump-Russia thing might be legit.
Are we just gonna keep pushing this narrative? It hasn't gotten us anywhere.
Oh wow I guess it's legit if Trump Jr. just spills the beans like that.

>In 2011 Hillary Clinton fostered the opposition party to Putin in Russia.
>Putin blames Hillary for inciting riots that came about from the election results in Russia.
>Putin sees Clinton as a forceful proponent of “regime change” policies that the Russian leader considers a grave threat to his own survival.”
>Russia uses it's information warfare to target Hillary to undermine her in 2016 election, regardless who ran against her.
>Russia didn't hack the election, what it did was hack Hillary's servers to expose her, and push forward a heavy anti-Hillary narrative.
>It influenced the US political election – yet the debate is to what extent.
>One side says it had no impact. The other side says it had all the impact – using Russia as a cause to make the election, and all the Trump's actions illegitimate.
Meanwhile, Putin is happy as a clam that the US political system is essentially paralyzed with this.

This does not do the subject justice. The issue is far more complex. Natalia Veselnitskaya denied that she worked with the Russian government, and just wanted to discuss adoption laws. It seems it is Goldstone who says that the Russian government was involved, and Jr. believed him, though not sure where Goldstone got his info. Take this (painfully smug) article with a grain of salt. Do your own research. Never just accept what you hear. Form your own opinion. Whatever it may be.

>Natalia Veselnitskaya denied that she worked with the Russian government, and just wanted to discuss adoption laws.
1.) Of course she would.
2.) Yeah, like the Magnitsky Act. Oh, wait! Those are sanctions! And the law was named after an investigator was killed!
More sanctions relief for Russia after they did nothing to earn it?

Interesting points, but I am not here for political debate. I am just here to point out that this article is the absolute worst way to get all your info on this controversy.
