Arguably one of the earliest viral videos that's still well-known in current meme culture, the eponymous "I Like Turtles Kid" has resurfaced thanks to a viral marketing campaign by Paramount.

As part of the promotion for the upcoming reboot of the franchise (a Seth Rogan film by the name of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem), the now-adult Johnathan was asked what he thought of the movie, responding with his best impression of his younger self.

While some were happy with the return of the I Like Turtles Kid, calling it a huge marketing win for bringing back a familiar face to the parents of kids that will likely be seeing the movie, there were others that were less than enthused.

Due to the ongoing WGA-SAG strike, a halt on traditional promotion using the stars of the film has been in place since the protest began.

This has led to social media users positing that the reason the I Like Turtles Kid was flown out was because he would be able to "scab" as promotional material without affecting the strike.

The movie, which had initially faced trepidation from many over the portrayal of April O'Neil, has been receiving some praise from fans on social media, who are posting snippets from the various teasers and trailers released as the movie gets closer.

This has led to a more neutral to positive fan view of the movie ahead of its August 2nd release date, which is markedly higher than the outlook shown by fans when the news of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot helmed by Seth Rogan was first announced.
