'Hollow Knight: Silksong' Delayed, 'Hollow Knight' Fans Reapply Clown Makeup
After nearly a year of enjoying a "We're So Back" peak, Hollow Knight fans have returned to the It's So Over valley after Team Cherry executive Matthew Griffin announced that Silksong has been delayed with no new release window given.
The sequel to 2017's Hollow Knight, hotly anticipated since its announcement in 2019, has become something of a source of existential pain for fans of the original game. Ever since the game was announced at E3 2019, fans spent years craving even a crumb of information about the title, lining up for every video game publisher's indie game showcase only to walk away empty-handed and disappointed time and again. They celebrated their shared misery by sharing memes about how Team Cherry has made them clowns.
This seemed to change in June of 2022 when a new trailer dropped during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. Even more exciting was a promise from Xbox itself that the game would release "within the next twelve months."
Of course, a check of the calendar reveals that those 12 months are nearly up and they've passed without any new updates on Silksong, making today's announcement of its delay disappointing but not exactly surprising.
In reaction to the bad news, Hollow Knight fans sadly and dutifully reapplied their clown makeup.

As long as the game gets the time it needs, I'm happy.

If it underdelivers even in the slightest, you bet your ass an army of fanboys are going to get the pitchforks.
