As the tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate nearly to the point of war, Gen Z are stepping in to try to stop the conflict with the best weapon it has at its disposal — thirsty social media comments.

Over the past several days, what appear to be Putin fan Instagram accounts have received floods of comments to the tune of "Plz daddy Putin no war ı'll be good little kitten😖👄💅" and "Daddy please don't bomb anything i swear i'll behave🥺🥺 u don't want this ❤️❤️✨😚." Why this is happening is unclear, though it's certainly not the first time a meme has developed out of Russia seemingly preparing to invade Ukraine.

The trend was spotted by TikToker earthlyfolk, who brought the memeing in Putin's menchies to a wider audience. Their TikTok has gained over 2 million views and thousands of comments from slack-jawed users who, understandably, are at a complete loss for words to describe this mass prank. Earthlyfolk commented, "In my opinion as a first-gen Russian, these comments are funny but I’m also kinda nervous about this. I don’t like Putin and I wish he would stop this."

At the moment, the United States is preparing a sanctions bill against Putin while the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. is asking Russia to "come to the table" to work out a diplomatic agreement.
