In what may be the late capitalism story of the year, Gamestop is offering its employees the chance to work more if they come up with the best TikTok dance video.

"Ever thought…I could do that TikTok challenge!" starts an insidious message posted to Gamestop's conference website. According to the contest, Gamestop employees can debase themselves by doing a "Macarena"-like dance to a remix of "Red Red Wine" by UB40 for the chance to win 10 extra hours of labor for themselves during Black Friday at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. The dance looks like this:

This frankly sounds too much like parody to be true (even The Hard Times joked it would have rejected the pitch), but the website states, "The winner of the challenge will receive an Echo 8, Echo Auto, $100 VISA gift card and 10 additional labor hours to use during Black Friday week!"

"Imagine what you could do with all those prizes!", it adds.

Once the story hit Twitter, users' jaws dropped.

Gamestop continues to hemorrhage stores amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and its unlikely that this move will win them much favor with their customers and employees.
