'Fortnite' Gamer Gets Rig Destroyed By Dad, Community Bands Together To Get Him A New One
A sucky situation got a happy ending this week after Fortnite player Rem had his gaming rig destroyed by his dad, only to have the community band together to get him a new one.
On Saturday, gamer and Twitter user Rem posted a video of his destroyed gaming PC, ostensibly destroyed by his father. On the verge of tears, he said, "I f***ing hate my Dad, bro." The destruction apparently happened in the midst of a Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) event.
The viral video caught the attention of video editor and esports enthusiast Jake Lucky, who signal boosted Rem's clip to his 267,000 followers. According to Lucky, he spoke with Rem, who said his dad destroyed his gaming computer because he was making his family late for attending a family event.
This apparently drew the attention of another Fortnite content creator, Classify, who reached out to PowerGPU about the situation. According to a video posted by PowerGPU, the two pitched in to gift Rem a new PC, for which he appeared very grateful.
Thank you
Class</a> for the contribution to this act of kindness and thank you <a href="https://twitter.com/JakeSucky?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">

The story was widely seen as heartwarming and wholesome among the community, as players celebrated the crowdsourced act of goodwill. However, many gamers expressed hope that the new rig wouldn't suffer the same fate as Rem's old one.
I love this. But also in all seriousness. Does the kid need resources to get out of a potential toxic/hostile home environment? All love. I want safety for that new PC but much more importantly safety for that kid.

Get the kid away from the abusive father or he will smash the new pc as well (if he didn't already)

While I understand the father's rage at making them late for a family event, he could have just unplugged the computer.
Sai
Can you picture when that kid gets that new PC, his dad smashes that one as well?
Actually, I don't want to picture that. I can feel the pain.
Damnits
legitimate probability of that happening, sadly.
