For a meager 39 days, the football world was free from Tom Brady, who yesterday basically said "jk" about his February 1st retirement and announced he would come back to play yet another season for the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. It will be the 44-year-old quarterback's 23rd NFL season.

Brady cited "unfinished business" as the reason for his return in his social media posts, though it's difficult for many to imagine what that "unfinished business" could be since Brady has won more championships than any quarterback in NFL history by a wide margin, and he also owns the NFL record for most touchdowns, career passing yards and wins. Few would argue that he isn't the greatest quarterback of all time.

He's also one of the most divisive players in football, splitting NFL fans between Tampa and New England fans, many of whom worship the ground he walks on, and everyone else. Brady has been a model of consistency and a terror to NFL defenses for 22 seasons, leading some sports commentators to give hagiographies whenever he steps on the field, much to the annoyance of his opponents' fans.

Brady coming back so quickly after retirement led many football fans to shudder over the potential Tom Brady discourse they'll be in for next season.

Others cracked jokes about the briefness of Brady's "retirement" period, particularly imagining how his home life must be terrible if he wanted to come back to football so quickly.

At any rate, the news is a boon for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who appeared particularly strapped for a competent quarterback after Brady retired. For everyone else, it's time to buckle in for a year of Bradymania.

As a Seahawks fan I am goddamn pissed everyone but us that had a star QB got to keep them (minus Pittsburgh and Houston, but Ben is legitimately too old to keep playing and Watson's basically been gone since last year). Pete Carroll and JS should be gone but instead we have to live through their attempt at a rebuild.
