Elon Survives The 'Poison Pill' And Completes Buyout Of Twitter As Platform Reacts With Despair, Hope And Memes
After a rough patch that included a "Poison Pill" to try and stave off Musk's interest in buying the company last weekend, all things seem to be settled as Elon Musk confirms that a deal has been reached to buy the company outright and make it into a private entity.
This caused a great ripple on Twitter, where both fans and enemies of Elon Musk quickly flocked to express their viewpoints on the matter in droves.
While plenty of users were going back and forth on what might happen or what should happen next, there were still a lot that were keeping Twitter's essence alive by tweeting jokes, memes and generally making light of the situation while also contributing to the reasons why people care about the situation.
Following the news and confirmation of the purchase, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal sent employees a message noting that a company-wide "all-hands" meeting is set for 2 p.m. PT today to discuss Musk buying the company. What we'll see come from this remains to be seen, but it may lead to mixed reactions among staff, and potentially even walkouts in the near future from those who aren't supportive the deal.
Additionally, according to a report by CNBC, Biden officials worry Musk will allow Trump to return to the platform, though this too remains to be seen.
