Elon Musk's X Has Objected To The Onion's Acquisition Of Infowars, Claiming 'X Corp. Owns All X Accounts'

The Onion's quest to acquire Alex Jones's Infowars has run into an unprecedented obstacle: Elon Musk.

In a motion filed on Monday, Elon Musk's X objected to The Onion's winning bid to buy Infowars out of bankruptcy, claiming that his company has ownership of all X accounts.

Musk's lawyers argued that these accounts are not transferable and cannot be included as part of Infowars's bankruptcy auction.

The objection has further delayed the satirical website The Onion's acquisition of the far-right news show, which went up for auction after Alex Jones lost a $1.4 billion defamation verdict in favor of the families of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. Jones had used his Infowars platform to repeatedly accuse the aggrieved families of being actors in a staged event and pushing it as a false flag conspiracy theory.

Elon Musk's X questioned the validity of The Onion's Infowars takeover, stating that all X accounts, including all Infowars-related X accounts like @InfoWars, @TheWarRoom and @realAlexJones, are inherently part of X's services and cannot be transferred with X's consent.

Alex Jones posted a tweet about X's intervention, thanking Elon Musk in a convoluted rant toward the end of an Infowars stream earlier this week.

Jones said, "Elon Musk X Corp entered the case with a lawsuit within it to defend the right of X to not have private handles of people like Alex Jones stripped away. It violates the 13th Amendment against slavery, there are many issues. Today they filed a major brief in the case."
