Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is in the midst of a new controversy this week because of a tweet he sent out likening Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Adolf Hitler.

The sentiment aligns with Musk's stance regarding that way Trudeau has handled the ongoing Canadian Freedom Convoy of truckers in the country who are protesting a COVID-19 vaccination mandates. Inspired by outrage and controversy over the tweet, Twitter users are now resurfacing columnist David Frum's 2021 statements on Donald Trump, who he emphasized sharing "some ways of thinking" with Hitler in an article of his.

The tweet was sent by Musk yesterday in response to a @CoinDesk tweet regarding crypto wallets used by Canadian truckers being sanctioned by the country. This prompted Musk to reply with the meme above, depicting Adolf Hitler with top and bottom captions reading, "Stop comparing me to Justin Trudeau / I had a budget."

The meme was largely met with outrage almost immediately, with many users viewing his reaction as insensitive. He deleted the tweet roughly 12 hours later, though several screenshots are still circulating.

The Atlantic columnist David Frum then added to the outrage, offering his own take in a tweet. He relayed accounts of Musk's purported incompetence in regards to managing the foreign branches of his operations, citing slave-like conditions that his workers have allegedly suffered. This didn't sit right with some people, who resurfaced an old article of his where he likened Trump to Hitler. More memes then ensued, further adding to the controversy.

You can always tell where an actual Fascist is by the public outcry pivoting around him. In this case it's Elon Musk and our current sitting president. Which isn't saying much, Elon Musk has always held that opinion and the U.S. Presidency has held a constant slide into Fascism since it was invented. People keep saying "Trump" is a Fascist… yeah, and? "Biden" is a Fascist… yeah, and? What part of "constant slide into Fascism" do you not understand?

Not sure why Musk consistently acts like an average anonymous user with no liability. I think a lot of people act the way that Musk does but after 1000 twitter followers you realise that the things you say and do are worth thinking over.

Because outside of pissing off the SEC he has fuck you money. It's not like the US is going to send him for re-education like China seemingly did with Jack Ma.

Given he deleted this, he apparently has no balls though.

Hitler did not balance the budget. The Nazis were never good at managing their economy. They tried to keep money in The Reich when they were dependent on Imports for Food and Fuel. Nazi Germany's economy could only support itself by squeezing everything they could out of Europe.

About the only good thing that could be said about the Nazi Economy were Make-Work programs and that they increased Radio Ownership by bankrolling the mass production of Volksemphangers.

Read Adam Tooze's book "Wages of Destruction: the Making and Breaking of the Nazi Economy" for more details.

When I see someone comparing current figures to Hitler, that tells me the person doing so isn't very historically knowledgeable; the single most infamous person of all time is their go-to point of comparison because they aren't well-versed enough in history's rogues gallery to find a lesser yet more closely equatable and specifically issue-relevant villain to refer to.

A bigger story is that JT here thought it was a good idea to say to a Conservative Jewish Lesbian that she is aligning with Nazis.
