'Diablo Immortal' Player's $100,000 Of Character Buffs Make It So He Can't Play PvP With Anyone Else

Diablo Immortal has been lambasted since its release in June for what critics have called predatory "pay-to-win" mechanics, and now one player has exploited that system to the point where the game is literally unplayable.

In a recent video, YouTuber jtisallbusiness revealed that the $100,000 he spent on the free-to-play game had rendered his character so powerful in PvP matchmaking that he could no longer queue into a match, potentially barring him from the game's "Rite of Exile" end-game event.

The money jtisallbusiness (henceforth "jt") had pumped into his barbarian character had made it so he basically never lost a PvP match in Diablo Immortal. This resulted in his matchmaking rank becoming so high that the game won't queue him in to face anyone. He reports that he now will attempt to queue into a match for days at a time before finally getting the chance to play the game he'd spent a small fortune on.

"I would say it’s probably around, somewhere around 48 to 72 hours somewhere in between that of only trying to queue for a Battleground and never being able to get one," he said.

Compounding the issue is that jt is a member of the clan OneTimes, which is going to defend its title in the Immortals endgame. Part of the requirements to make it into the endgame is to play a certain amount of PvP battles, in essence meaning jt is so powerful that he can't qualify to compete for his clan because no one can play him.

"Basically I’m stuck as the clan leader in the Immortals clan not being able to queue us up for Rite of Exile at all," he said. He floated the idea of asking for a $100,000 refund if Blizzard can't correct the issue.

In response to jt's plight, the Diablo Immortal community response was essentially a giant "lmfao" as few had sympathy for jt spending so much money on a free-to-play game he essentially couldn't play it anymore.

On YouTube and Reddit, commenters sarcastically congratulated jt on "winning" Diablo Immortal. Asmongold even roasted jt and the game itself in a YouTube video that racked up over 516,000 views in mere days.

Blizzard told jt a month ago that his issue with matchmaking would be resolved "in a couple weeks." They also told Kotaku that they were aware of players having difficulty finding matches and were working on fixes.
