Twice a year, the organization Games Done Quick hosts two premier events (Awesome Games Done Quick in the winter and Summer Games Done Quick in the summer) to raise millions of dollars for charities over a weeklong period while showcasing gaming speedruns.

Unexpectedly, however, 2024 received a third speedrunning event, courtesy of YouTuber and streamer Ludwig Ahgren and the company he co-founded with Atrioc, OffBrand.

The event, called Fast50, was planned to be a weekend-long event featuring content creators and part-time speedrunners trying to show how good they are at their favorite games, a noticeable difference from the GDQ formula, as explained by Ludwig.

The event, which took place over the weekend from May 31st to June 2nd, featured several other well-known content creators like Moist Critkal, Alpharad, DougDoug, GrandPooBear and many others, each of whom played both mainstream and indie games like Neon White, Cuphead, Hollow Knight and had livestreamed fun in-between rounds of gaming.

At the end of the event, it was announced that over $250,000 was raised, going to the charities Wings for Life, which researches spinal cord injuries and tries to help people regain movement in their body, as well as No Kid Hungry, which aims to make sure every child is able to be fed.
