I know we joked Linkin Park is emo, but not like this. Not like this…

I first heard Linkin Park as a kid from watching Final Fantasy music videos like this one for example. I loved them for that and also loved one of the their least meme'd songs Pt. Of Authority, which I loved the animated video of it (loved it a lot as a kid since it reminded me so much of Dark Reign 2).
Despite Linkin Park being a meme now adays (and can never listen to their songs the same anymore as a result), I do still appreciate their work and how much it shaped my childhood. Chester death feels like a part of my childhood died along with him.

On the subject of LP songs becoming meme fodder I can theorize (without really speaking for the community) that it can at times be overwhelming to hear their music/lyrics (for example when you experience a relapse for the first time since your teen years) so you end up ridiculing or generalizing what is too emotionally provocative to handle. It's tough love, not hate. Please don't stop enjoying what is important to you.

In middle school and high school, I was a misunderstood and a loner. LP helped me cope.

Even to this day, I still listen to their music from time to time.
Sure, you can call the songs "edgy" or whatever, but no one can deny they're still pretty good songs for their genre. And no matter if people treat them with genuine love or just view them as a meme, their importance still stands to this day.
So, Good night Chester. Here is a mashup dedicated to you:

In the end of his life, memes of Linkin Park really does even matter.
Apparently, sometimes memes would help keep one personality alive such as Stefan Karl.

This video showed up in my YouTube recommendations. Thought it would be nice to share, not only due to Chris but also to do Chester's voice, Crawling, and the band itself some justice in the edge-department. I fully regret never having attended any Linkin Park shows.

Rest in Peace, Chester. You and the band made my teenage years less shitty. Thank you.

is it too soon to do a top 5 musician suicides?
idk
tbh I'm not sure what could compel you to make that thing unless you write for Clickhole.

I use dark humor to fill up the empty voids in my own life.

Say what you want about Linkin Park, but it was a part of my childhood. The songs are pretty edgy looking back at them, yes, but some people find that edgy vibe to be rather appealing and I still tend to listen to them every now and then.
The worst part is that certain songs such as Crawling, In the End, and Breaking the Habit (especially the latter two) have become a lot harsher in hindsight considering their lyrics…
Either way, RIP Chester. In the end, you will be remembered. And that's what matters.
